Canadian immigration authorities assess French-language results by individual skill. Your NCLC level may therefore be different for Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing. Use the reference tables below when you want to verify a conversion.

Listening and Reading are reported on a 699-point scale. Speaking and Writing are reported on a 20-point scale.

What does NCLC mean?

NCLC stands for Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens, the Canadian benchmarks used to assess French-language proficiency for federal immigration purposes. Each of your four language abilities receives its own NCLC level.
