What is ELS- ELO ?

ELS-ELO is a test designed to assess the oral language proficiency of employees or candidates for positions within the Canadian public service (Canada’s second official language: French or English). Structure of the Official Test:

This part of the test assesses the candidate’s ability to talk about their work or other familiar activities in a professional context. The candidate must respond to a series of simple and direct questions about their work environment, professional responsibilities, and other aspects of their professional life. The goal of this section is to verify the candidate’s ability to communicate fluently and clearly on familiar topics while using vocabulary appropriate to the professional context. It also assesses the ability to answer questions concisely and accurately.

Part 1: Work-Related or Other Familiar Activity Questions
This part of the test assesses the candidate’s ability to talk about their work or other familiar activities in a professional context. The candidate must respond to a series of simple and direct questions about their work environment, professional responsibilities, and other aspects of their professional life. The goal of this section is to verify the candidate’s ability to communicate fluently and clearly on familiar topics while using vocabulary appropriate to the professional context. Part 2: Short Presentation
This part of the test evaluates the candidate’s ability to deliver a short presentation on a given topic and provide their opinion on related issues. The candidate will need to present their ideas in a structured and coherent manner. The goal of this section is to assess the candidate’s ability to organize their thoughts quickly, present a topic clearly and convincingly, and respond effectively to opinion-based questions. This section evaluates not only language skills but also presentation and critical thinking abilities.

Online Resources, Exercises, and Simulations: Participate in test simulations to practice and familiarize yourself with the format and question types of the ELO Test.
